Breathing protocols to reboot your health, fix your sleep, and boost performance. An opinionated guide to using AI right now. A smarter way to disagree.
One “must” for this week: breathing protocols to reboot your health, fix your sleep, and boost performance
A few years back, I hired a voice coach.
I wanted to sound more confident in meetings, to get my point across without rambling.
I thought she would give me tips on posture and pacing.
Instead, one of her first questions was, ‘How do you breathe?’
She recommended James Nestor’s book, “Breath”. I got the audiobook, and I was very curious.
I was expecting complex yogic techniques or intense breathwork exercises.
But the biggest lesson, the most surprising one, was super simple: “Breathe. Through. Your. Nose.”
That’s it.
I started practicing it consciously, on my walks in the park, answering emails, lying in bed. In the beginning it felt a bit unnatural, and I noticed that sometimes switched to shallow mouth breathing, especially when I was under stress.
Looking back to when I was younger, I am sleeping deeper, I feel calmer before big presentations, and I feel I have more energy than when I was 30.
While I made other healthy changes to my lifestyle over this time, breathing right has definitely helped me.
Instead of searching for complex ‘hacks’ to improve my performance and well-being, sometimes the answer are the simple ones, right under our noses the whole time 😉
When was the last time you consciously paid attention to your breathing during a stressful workday? What did you notice?

That's why I prioritize my yoga classes Roberto. It's a workout for my body but also for my breathing. It teaches me how to be mindful of my breathing. But so many ways to learn it... like you it can be with a book and conscious practice and experimentation.
