The Yes…Damn effect. Came for the AI tool, waiting for the AI network. Four ways to make hybrid work better for everyone
One “must” for this week: the “yes.. damn” effect
Have you ever been here? A colleague asks you to attend a meeting in two weeks. Seeing the free schedule you say "yes".
Then a friend asks you to attend a social event on the same week. And again, seeing you have plenty of time, you say "yes".
Then time goes by, unexpected stuff comes out, and that week you have a full schedule and no breathing space, and when you see those two commitments you think "Damn".
Familiar? Yes, I've been there many times too.
This is the "yes.. damn" effect that Ashley Williams talks about in "Time Smart".
We discount the value of future time, wrongly thinking that we will have plenty of time to do everything, and when the time comes, of course we are proven wrong.
One way to avoid this trap that almost always works for me is thinking "if this was tomorrow would I say yes"? And would I say "hell yes"?
If that's a yes, then I say yes, if not, I prefer to keep some breathing space and not commit.
And what's interesting too is that some of the things that time ago were a "hell yes" are not anymore, and vice versa, so I'd rather not "shut any door", simply keep it open and answer "not now".

I’m hosting a free virtual communication workshop!
Spending hours in virtual meetings can be exhausting 😩
You know the feeling—wondering if people are paying attention, struggling to sound confident through the screen, or just wishing you could connect better in those tiny Zoom boxes.
I’ve been there too.
Since 2020, I’ve spent over 5,000 hours in virtual meetings. Along the way, I’ve learned that being effective online is about so much more than just having a great microphone or camera (and you know how I LOVE a good tech setup 🤖).
That’s why I’ve spent countless hours researching, practicing, and learning how to communicate in virtual settings: how to engage, connect, and leave a lasting impression.
My guiding question has always been, “how do I want the people in this meeting to remember me?”
Now, I want to share what I’ve learned with you—and in the process, continue learning myself.
I’m hosting a free workshop to help you become a better communicator in virtual settings.
Whether you’re leading meetings, pitching ideas, or just trying to avoid “Zoom fatigue,” this 1:30h session is designed to give you practical tools you can use right away.
🎯 What’s in it for you?
Learn how to make a stronger, more memorable impression from the moment you join a call.
Discover how to use your voice, gestures, and presence to keep people engaged.
Avoid common pitfalls that can derail even the best-prepared sessions.
And yes, we’ll talk about the all-important technical setup, too!
It’s going to be interactive, fun, and useful—and I’d love for you to join! 🤩
In each session, the spots are limited for better interaction, so don’t wait!

Roberto, just read the article about Came for the AI tool, waiting for the AI network. It's true that it will be faster and cheaper. But here's the thing...humans don't value what's cheap, right? We value what requires effort and is rare. :) That's human psychology.
That’s me agreeing to do something on the weekend and then just wanting to stay at home and do nothing when that day arrives.
