You won’t win every point, keep moving forward. Charts that capture how the world is changing. The strategic power of hope.
Welcome to a new issue of the newsletter, “Journal of discoveries.”
Each week, I check a list of hundreds of sources of inspiration to spot exciting articles, videos, podcasts, and books on personal development, leadership, management, technology, and innovation.
While this newsletter will remain a free resource, you might consider becoming a paid subscriber to support my work, and get access to my searchable Notion database. Thanks!
And now, let’s dive in!
One “must” for this week
"You won’t win every point, keep moving forward" by Roger Federer.
In his 2024 Dartmouth commencement speech, Roger shares one of his key lessons: perfection isn’t possible, and you can’t win every point, so keep moving forward and work harder and smarter.
In the 1.526 singles matches he played, he won almost 80% of those games but only 54% of the individual points. He says, “When you're playing a point, it has to be the most important thing in the world, and it is, but when it's behind you, it's behind you.”
This frees you to fully commit to the next point with intensity, clarity, and focus.
Are you a founder or CEO and want to elevate your leadership and have a richer life?
My friend Peter has built six companies, hired hundreds of people, and raised millions—until it all came crashing down due to overwhelm and stress. He did not get help in time. Now, he coaches others to live happier, healthier lives and avoid a similar fate. I think you should read his story if you are wondering if everything is as it is supposed to be. Maybe he can help you. Tell him I sent you 😊

You made my day with the link about "AI is increasing demand for managers — and changing their skill sets". I thought the trend was the opposite, so there is hope for our role.
